I have a picture someone snapped of my brothers and me at our dad’s wedding to our stepmother. They had flown us all to New York City for the wedding. That was probably too soon, but we were in love and wanted to be together. The kids kept asking us when we were going to get married and we figured we would deal with any fallout after the fact. It was difficult to be patient because we were just so excited to find each other. But we couldn’t expect the kids to be as excited about our relationship as we were.
